Cardiff Uni students collect 12 bin bags of rubbish from Taff's Well & Pinnacle, South Wales

Fantastic work from Cardiff University Mountaineering Club (CUMC) last weekend, they cleared at least 12 large bags of litter and a broken mountain bike from Taff’s Well main area and Pinnacle, a roadside crag on the outskirts of Cardiff that suffers from rubbish from traffic blown into the climbing area.

Have you seen an adder?

Worryingly, small adder populations could be extinct by 2032 unless we act now to help conserve them. The North Pennines National Landscape are asking BMC members to help them record sightings these native UK snakes to better understand their distribution and improve conservation efforts. Their Adders Up project started in February 2024 and will run for three years, hoping to achieve positive outcomes for the conservation of this enigmatic and threatened reptile.

Swastika removed from Burbage North, Peak District

A swastika carved into the crag at Burbage North, Peak District, has been filled in with a mix of sand from the crag, small stones, resin, superglue and small stones by BMC Access & Conservation Officer (England) Jon Fullwood this April.
